I have added a new painting to the Illustration gallery, and it is my final oil painting from Spring semester 2011.
Our task was to paint something related to the field of illustration that we think we may want to pursue. I’ve been thinking a lot about paper goods and decorative illustration lately, so I decided to try and paint something purely decorative with oil paints. It was no easy task. Oil paints are messy, and not good for straight lines. But fortunately, I like things that look old, and having a little of my hand in the work adds to that feeling of old, one-of-a-kind, and made by hand.
The owls were a ton of fun to paint! I do like oil paint for creating animal textures.
Animals are fun to paint because they are cute. <3 Maybe that is something I should pursue?
