Crochet Bubble Cowl

  • by

It has been a very bad week. For the world and for me personally, the past two weeks rank among the worst. Crochet is a small comfort, and the product is comfortable too.

I joined a knitting circle at my local library for the winter to get me out of the house another night of the week. I don’t know how to knit, it doesn’t fit my brain, but the circle welcomes crochet as well. Fiber arts healing and a good skill for times ahead.

This is a simple 3-skein bubble cowl that I invented as I went. It features rows of “bubbles,” much like bubble-wrap, that can be pushed in or out creating a pleasing bulky texture. It stands up pretty well on its own or can be folded over and pushed down for many layers of warmth. These tube-scarves are very practical and quick to make. I love to wear them on my walks with the dogs because they keep my face warm  but there’s no long tails to get caught in my coat zipper. Nothing to fall loose when I’m fiddling with a doggie-poop-bag.

Hang in there, everyone!
