What’s an ear-saver? It’s a strap that goes around the back of your next when you’re wearing a mask. You hook the ear-loops of the mask onto the buttons, which sit behind your ears, instead of on your ears. This makes the mask fit better, tighter, and it takes all the pressure off the ears and transfers it to the much stronger neck. Ear savers make wearing a mask more comfortable, especially over a long period of time.
I am still not very amazing at crochet, and haven’t picked up the hook in a few months. But making a batch of ear-savers was a good way to get back into it. I made two lengths: his and hers, and used up some matching sets, or close-enough sets, of buttons from the big button-jar. A single-crochet stitch makes these stretchy but sturdy, and the soft yarn is comfortable to wear. A great beginner project! Just chain-stitch your desired length and single-crochet 4 to 5 rows. Sew on buttons and you’re done!
