Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season! Back now with another wedding highlight; this time, tablescapes that are just screaming to be added to Pinterest, but I’m busy.
We chose this venue with its refinished rustic barn because the whole scene looks complete with minimal décor. Wedding décor is obviously either expensive, time consuming, or underwhelming. Or all of the above, especially when staged in a sterile off-white function room. We wanted to do a lot with a little, and the venue played a big role in that.
Customization comes from the centerpieces and table-colors which Jake and I worked hard to source and assemble. For the round tables I learned how to crochet doilies, Jake cut wood slices, and I arranged dried pampas grasses in growler jugs (a nod to homebrewing). It was a months-long affair to gather the right materials and construct the pieces tastefully, intentionally, and on a tight budget and color-pallet.
Jake and I also spent a weekend or two hand-making our own custom table-numbers featuring Arabic numbers on one side, and Pentadic numerals on the other, giving our guests an extra fun challenge finding their seats!
The rectangle tables are staged with found objects: chiffon runners, faux greenery, rented candles and local pumpkins (many of which are still on my porch). My design goal was to create an elegant and whimsical room without breaking the bank or over-filling the tables. Plates and cups take up a lot of space and it was important to me that our guests had room to eat comfortably while being immersed in a whimsical aesthetic, so I also made the choice to reduce the maximum number of guests per table from the venue’s ten, down to eight or less.
The end result is a more comfortable seating arrangement that also makes the tables look cozier and more inviting.
