Still working my way through a box of yarn, this time, making ‘rustic’ doilies. I started out with a pattern or two, but found that my gauge and the author’s were not matching up, which results of course in a not-very-flat doily. I therefore abandoned the patterns and struck out on my own to feel my way to flat turning with mixed success. Some of these could use a little more steam.
I’m planning a few small events for the future, including another plague fair and a wedding reception for next fall. Hoping to find a good use for these doilies at a special event or holiday tablescape.
In between yarning-over, Jake and I took the dogs to the Connecticut Renaissance Faire. We dressed for fall but the afternoon sun made me wish I had held onto a little more summer. I don’t regret those colors, though; I love my fall earth-tones. Neutrals forever. We speculate that the pandemic shook up the vendors list at the faire. Some probably decided to take a year off, or close shop, giving new people a chance at a booth. Some old favorites were absent but we found new treasures including the reindeer pelt I’m wearing rolled up on my back in the photo below.
