Crochet is extremely addictive, and I am falling down the rabbit hole. My second practice project, as I learn this new art, was a chunky triangle scarf in two colors. I learned a new stitch: a scallop, (ooo) and I employed a treble crochet to make the scallops tall and the project go faster.
I used a medium weight yarn and the scarf came out quite chunky and will stand on it’s own. It’s not perfect, and I’m not sure that I’m joining two colors correctly (I’m pretty sure I’m not), but it will make a good costume piece or winter warmer.
The pattern went something like, make a chain stitch the desired length of the longest edge of the triangle. Work scallops along the length of the whole chain, the number of chain stitches per scallop will depend on the height of the stitch you use to make the scallop. At the end of the row, turn, slip stitch up to the peak of the scallop, and offset the next row of scallops into the valleys of the previous row. Each row decreases by one scallop, until the last row is only made of one scallop. I added the tassels at the end because I like tassels. They are not a part of the pattern or structure of the scarf.
