Junk Organizer with Pockets

We all have that drawer in the kitchen that gets a little nuts. A catch-all space to organize annually. I was itching to sew something fast and easy, without any events on the horizon to look forward to (a sad place to be), so I decided to make a little tray with pockets to wrangle twist-ties, mints, and matches.

Using scraps from the fabric stash I fashioned a two-layer rectangular tray with pockets on the inner-walls (and one on the bottom) in about 30 minutes. Serging the top edge was the quickest and most hassle-free option, if not the prettiest. I’m thinking about sewing some hanging organizers for the canoe, as I love to scheme that way, and this was a sort of warm-up exercise.

It works, and a few small items will spent less time free-floating around that kitchen drawer. No, you may not see the drawer as proof.
