I made Jake a formal beard mask to exactly match a suit for a very special occasion. How did I match it exactly? The suit came unhemmed so I had to chop about 5 inches off the bottom of each pant leg for him. This left barely enough fabric to make a matching mask.
What makes it a beard mask? You’ll notice the odd shape. The length is exaggerated to hold a long beard. There’s also a third elastic in the lower portion that sits behind the beard, keeping everything in place. What makes it formal? I did a good job….I folded in my edges instead of surging, and matched the color of my top-stitch thread to the fabric. I don’t like sewing masks so I can’t always be bothered to change the thread, nor do I always have thread that matches.
